How can the size of a star be measured? Do we take the fame or stardom the star reaches during his lifetime into account, his performance as an actor or the praise he receives from following generations. A star is a public figur, the personification of desires and fears of a nation, he is the prototype of his time. His task is to produce an image, which catches fire from physical operational readiness and nevertheless remains immaterial. In addition, the star has a private life. Marlene Dietrich always manged to keep her private life a secret. Her early years in Berlin, which are featured in the first exhibition room, where gladly left in the dark by Marlene Dietrich. In reference to her carreer time counted starting with "Monacco" (German title: "Herzen in Flammen"), her first Hollywood film. The first exhibition room closes the gap between her not told story and her later life as a glamour star. "My private life is none of your business" – was Marlene Dietrichs maxim for all interview partners; but still the public took nevertheless a great interest in her private life. A star is not from heaven sent, has a family, a childhood, a developement, which the interested visitor wants to comprehend.
